The Jubilee Mural - Scene 5 - Outdoor Celebrations

Scene 5 in the Jubilee Mural, showing celebrations in the woods
Mural by Fred Fieber, photo by Peter Marsh

This section of the mural shows picnics and children playing in woods near Macklin Road to celebrate the Coronation in 1953, representing Salisbury’s long tradition of open air celebrations.  There are some children shown in fancy dress, taken from photos, and hidden in the scene are various items of local royal memorabilia.

You can see photos and stories from Salisbury’s royal celebrations in the “Events” section .
