Making the Greencroft Street Mosaic

Volunteers got together in St. Thomas’ Church in the centre of Salisbury to make the mosaic over the course of four days. Designer Joanna Dewfall was on hand to guide the work, as were a few people who had previously worked on the Winchester Street Mosaic.  Project Co-ordinator Clare Christopher was kept busy explaining what was going on to many curious visitors!

Here is a gallery of photos from the making days.  You can see the mosaic beginning to take shape over the design on paper. The mosaic is made in sections in reverse, and once finished will be turned over to show the right side and set into a metal tray before being grouted.
