Working with our Experts
We have run projects at both St Martin’s Primary School and St Marks Junior School in Salisbury. Feedback has always been really positive: “…a wonderful learning experience for our children…It is wonderful to have a local link like this with the children gaining an understanding of local history, geography and people’s lives.” (Headteacher, St Martin’s Primary School).
“Using the ‘experts’ brought each topic area to life and added so much value to the children’s learning. These sessions both enhanced the quality of the experience and allowed the children to work collaboratively with other community groups. I would thoroughly recommend that all schools engage with this part of the project.” (History Co-ordinator, St Mark’s CE Junior School).
“George was truly fabulous with the children last week on our walks. Despite the rain, on one of the trips, & the cold weather every child enjoyed finding out about the history and hidden history of Salisbury. One child told me it was the best school trip he had ever been on as they found out loads of interesting facts about Salisbury, the Titanic & the plague!!” (Year 3 Lead St Mark’s Junior School)
All through the Education Resources there are ideas for expanding learning with art, oral history and dance/drama. Although the Resources can be used on their own, it will enhance the children’s experience even more if experts from our team are involved. With the exception of George Fleming, who works on a voluntary basis, all our experts charge a daily rate for work in schools. Contact them direct for more details:
Fred Fieber is our lead artist. He designed and painted both of our murals, and produces all of our artwork including the original cartoons in these resources. Fred’s work with schools is often three dimensional, for example making models of some of the buildings featured on our murals. He is also happy to be commissioned to paint a mural for your school!
